Work starts on Hainault Forest High School

KSS are pleased to announce that work has started on site on Hainault Forest High School.

The new 2,400m2 building will replace the existing facilities which have been described as crumbling. The school building will house a new 300 seat dining hall with main kitchen, design and technology classrooms, new external construction area for vocational curriculum activities, modern foreign language classrooms, art, textiles, graphics and CAD rooms. A new food technology and a brand new catering and hospitality suite will include a professional kitchen and mock restaurant environment. The dining hall breaks out to an external covered terrace with views over the adjacent playing fields.

As part of the design process, pupils from Hainault Forest High met with both KSS and contractor Wates and were asked to come up with designs for parts of the two-storey building. Working in groups and with assistance from KSS, they developed designs for four or five areas where graphics and signage will be used.

Work on the new facility is set to complete in September 2011.
