Le Havre AC stadium foundation stone ceremony

KSS were delighted to be present as the French Minister for Sport & Health cemented the foundation stone for the new Le Havre AC stadium.

KSS representatives Susan Nash and Jonathan Dreyfuss watched on as 17 youngsters wearing green sweatshirts representing the 17 communities of Le Havre assisted the Minister Roselyne Bachelot to place a Le Havre football and Euro within the first stone on site. The ceremony held on Monday October 11 was attended by 200 people that included political and football dignitaries from across France, as well the design and construction teams and other invited guests.

The new 25,000 capacity is due to open in 2012 and will be Europe's first carbon neutral stadium. Designed in partnership with French architects SCAU the stadium replaces the ageing 16,000 capacity Deschaseaux. The new stadium, designed to reflect both the history of the Club and the colours, will be wrapped in a pixilated ETFC envelope and will stand proud at the gateway to Le Havre. Indeed the President of CODAH, Antoine Rufenacht said 'This is an opportunity for a complete transformation of the entrance to the town. The stadium is iconic with superb architectural design.'
