Newbridge SEN School receives planning

In December 2009 Wates Construction with KSS as architects were instructed by London Borough of Redbridge to progress with proposals to refurbish and extend the Chadwell Centre in Romford to provide a special school for pupils between the ages of 2 and 14, replacing Newbridge School's Loxford Lane campus.

The project has just received planning approval and work is due to start on site in June 2010.

The new school will provide a modern, flexible learning environment and will be designed to be sympathetic with the environment of the site. The new building will be fully accessible to meet the needs of all pupils who attend the school. A wide range of therapy spaces including a large hydrotherapy suite, have been included to facilitate the large number of visiting health and other professionals working with the pupils. The design will also facilitate use of the building by pupils with sensory impairment and for those with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
