American Express Community stadium shortlisted in prestigious 2011 Structural Steel Design Awards

KSS are delighted to announce that the American Express Community Stadium is one of an 18 project shortlist for the 2011 Structural Steel Design Awards.

The Awards promote the innovative use of steel by rewarding outstanding projects to stand as an example to others, and are the longest running awards of their type in the construction industry.

The KSS designed stadium is due to complete summer 2011 in time for the team to start the 2011/2012 season in the Championship, following the Club's recent promotion. The site in Falmer lies next to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the South Downs, and this in turn inspired the sweeping architectural form of the stadium. The stands nestle into the landscape, and the curved roof structure and cladding evoke the forms of the rolling hill backdrop.

The winners will be announced at an evening reception in London during July.
