Design Award for Amex Community Stadium

The American Express Community Stadium for Brighton & Hove Albion FC was among the winners at the Structural Steel Design Awards 2011.

The award recognised the high standard of design achieved in the new stadium. The judging panel added "the building provides a long awaited home for Brighton & Hove Albion FC with community facilities. A large structure, with a curving roof and main trusses, it sits comfortably in to the rolling South Downs, while the blue translucent roof shows off the well-executed roof steelwork."

Martin Perry, Albion Chief Executive and representatives from the KSS, SKM, Europe, Watson Steel Structures and Buckingham Group collected the award at the ceremony held in London.

Martin Perry said "the design of the stadium is all about the roof so to receive one of the country's top awards for roof design is a huge accolade and I congratulate the designers - KSS and SKM - on their innovative design. Already our new home is being recognised nationally as a superb example of stadium architecture, one of the best in the country and we should all be very proud of it."
