In 2008, we were proud to be selected with SKM and Wilkinson Eyre to design the Basketball & Handball Arena for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Games.
The venue will be one of the largest temporary arenas constructed in the UK, and will have 12,000 seats for the Olympics basketball and handball competitions, reducing to 10,000 seats for Paralympics wheelchair basketball and rugby.
Our brief was to create a compact and intimate arena seating bowl, and our solution pushes the boundaries of temporary seating design in terms of layout, comfort and sightlines, and gives the feel of a permanent venue.
