Liverpool FC submits planning application for Anfield expansion

In April, Liverpool FC unveiled its stadium expansion plans with detailed proposals for the expansion of its Main Stand and outline proposals for expansion of its Anfield Road Stand.

This week the planning application was submitted to Liverpool City Council which begins a formal consultation period for the community, local home owners, businesses and other key stakeholders.

The primary objectives of the design are to improve the fan experience, increase capacity and operational efficieny. The phased expansion will see the stadium capacity increased to approximately 53,783 in phase one and approximately 58,569 after phase two.

Completion of the first phase will see the premier Main Stand become one the largest single stands in the country, with a full range of facilities for general admission and premium seat hospitality. If planning consent is granted, construction work on the proposed Main Stand could begin early 2015 with completion for the 2016/17 season.
