Basketball Arena plays key role in London 2012

Our Basketball Arena drew a full house for every match during the recent Olympic Games and even played host to the American First Lady as she watched the dream team of the USA play one of their group stage matches.

To ensure our staff also had the opportunity of taking in some action and continuing our 21st celebrations, a lottery was held in the office at which KSS staff had the chance to win tickets to watch the basketball in the arena. The lucky people enjoyed an action-packed day out at the Park and got to see how the arena worked in Games mode, rather than just on a drawing!

The London2012 Basketball Arena is the largest temporary structure ever used in an Olympic Games as well as one of the most heavily used venues within the Olympic Park, with competition events taking place almost every day. The intimate arena drew a raucous crowd who were entertained, US style with kisscams and gravity defying entertainment during pauses throughout each game.

With the Paralympic Games set to start, the arena will play host to both the Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby competitions. We wish Team GB the very best of luck.
