Planning permission for Braiswick Academy

KSS have secured planning permission for the development of a new two storey, two form entry primary school and single storey early years centre.

Braiswick Academy was given the green light by members of the Essex County Council last week and will be one of many new primary schools constructed under the existing Local Education Partnership between Essex County Council and main contractor Skanska. The site measures 3.82 hectares and blends many of the local materials and forms evident in the local residential vernacular.

The £5m development designed by KSS includes 14 classrooms, a library, group rooms, and a multi-purpose hall which will accommodate 420 Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils and 56 Early Years children from Braiswick and Mile End. The development will also include a kitchen, staff and admin accommodation, car park, parent drop off collection area, hard and soft landscaping and a foundation stage play area with social and communal areas.

Braiswick Academy is part-funded by the Government’s Targeted Basic Need bid and Essex County Council and will be developed by The Learning Pathways Trust consisting of Lyons Hall School, Braintree and White Hall Academy.

Braiswick Academy is due to open in September 2015.
