Topping Out ceremony at Devons Road

This week, KSS attended a Topping Out ceremony at Devons Road in Bow marking a key project milestone and completion of the main structure.

KSS’ Associate Director Andy Karaiskos, Senior Architects Anna Papachristoforou and Grazyna Parker joined representatives from Galliford Try Partnerships, Newlon Housing Trust and key stakeholders at the event.

Mike Hinch, Group Chief Executive at Newlon Housing Trust, Matthew Taylor from Galliford Try Partnerships and Tower Hamlets Councillor Sirajul Islam gave speeches on the project, highlighting the collaborative approach by all parties to make Devons Road a huge success. The formalities were concluded with filling the last section of the top concrete slab.

Devons Road is a mixed use scheme in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets comprising of four buildings of between three and 20 storeys, incorporating 130 residential units, 800m2 retail space and 3500m2 of commercial office space.

Andy said after the event, “To reach this point on any project is always special as the whole project team have put in a tremendous effort to get here. Successfully achieving this milestone with Galliford Try Partnerships is particularly rewarding given the mixed use nature of the scheme and the associated challenges to deliver four very different buildings of various heights and uses on the Devons Road site.”

Devons Road is expected to complete in spring 2020.
