Latest school in Kent completes

Our brand-new School of Science & Technology in Maidstone recently opened its doors for the first time to the founding cohort of students.

Keys were formally handed over in May, marking the end of an 18-month construction project with BAM Construction. The state-of-the-art building includes 11 Science rooms, six Computer Studies suites, along with specialist Music, Drama and Design Technology provision.

KSS Associate Director Juliet Hook said “We are thrilled that The School of Science & Technology has been able to open this week. KSS is proud to have been part of the team to deliver this fantastic school with a great ethos in a stunning location. We wish all the students and staff well at the start of their journey at SSTM.”

VIAT’s Chief Operating Officer, Richard Hayden added “It’s an absolute pleasure to see this amazing new school complete. Many people have been involved in the planning, development and building process over the last five years, and the vision has always been to create something unique for the local community. I am confident that we have done exactly that. The school will be an incredible facility and resource, not only for the students but also for staff and stakeholders, moving forward.”

The brand-new school will welcome Helen Sharman OBE, the first British astronaut to go into space, in November, to host a formal opening of the building.
