My Year in practice

It is incredible to think that I joined KSS over a year ago. In such a short space of time, the opportunities that have been offered to me have enhanced my knowledge of architecture immensely.

Throughout my year, I have worked on a range of projects including the Purfleet Masterplan, Liverpool FC Training Complex, upgrades to Brighton & Hove Albion FC’s Amex Community Stadium and an office redevelopment in Marylebone.

Working in different sectors has been extremely valuable, from creating a new town centre with 2500 homes to designing new football facilities.

A major highlight for me was working on the stadium upgrades at the Amex Community Stadium and getting it ready for their first season in the Premier League. Due to the short turnaround of the off-season in English football it meant the work needed to be completed within 3 months, from design to construction. To see my designs built in a very short space of time is an opportunity very few Part 1’s get in their year in practice.

KSS has provided me with not only a fantastic working experience, but also a brilliant working environment, with a number of social events, from Friday night talks to lunchtime walks including a recent visit to the Serpentine Gallery.

A testament to the enjoyable 12 months I’ve had is the fact I have decided to stay on for another year at KSS before starting my Part 2 university studies. I can’t wait for the next exciting project at KSS.
