Planning approved for our latest school in Kent

Last month, the School of Science & Technology in Maidstone achieved full planning approval from the government.

The new Free School for 1,200 students specialises in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Our designs provide a statement change in image from the other schools that are part of the VIAT campus, with the colour palette blending into the wooded surroundings of the local vernacular. The fenestration is punctuated with coloured reveals that are similarly used to define the two school entrances, adding relief to the elevations.

The internal environment is simple, but inspiring with accent colours to aid way-finding and provides a professional backdrop to the teaching and learning whilst maintaining an excellent level of passive supervision.

The inspiring and unified space links well to the overall VIAT campus providing a form and infrastructure that allow for flexibility in teaching methods now and in the future. The new building will provide the perfect environment for students to take on the challenges of 21st Century education, whilst meeting the specific needs of its pupils.

Construction is set to begin late 2018.
